Goa Trance and PsyTrance

Most people don't know this, but Psyonic is actually responsible for Jen Solo's long career in the dance music scene. Psyonic was the first person to take Jen to a techno event, early in 1993.
Currently residing in Knoxville, Tennessee, Psyonic promises dark sounds, sick samples & soul shattering beats in a tasty package you wont soon forget. All bets are off when he takes to the CD decks, so hold on to your pacifiers!

The year was 1992. A kid, who was primarily into punk and death metal, found himself wandering into the electronic music scene, and his eyes were opened to a completely different world. In a short time, Psyonic, at this time known as Sean Harris, familiarized himself with several styles and tempos of techno music, never staying with any one style for long. When introduced to drum & bass, he found a realm of music with a close affinity to the harder styles of his youth. But soon he became bored with the same old riffs and basslines of early d & b. Pre-Psyonic Sean realized that to bring about change in this scene, he would have to change it from the inside.

A friend asked why did Sean not spin records like everyone else? Pondering this simple question that would actually alter his life forever, Sean answered, "To me, it would seem more satisfying to walk into a party and see people blowing up to MY record instead of someone else's." This led him to produce his own style of drum & bass, in order to bring about the changes he sought in the dance music scene.

For two-and-a-half years, pre-Psyonic Sean struggled to be noticed as a producer. While still working on his own songs, he teamed up with a friend to start their own vending booth at events in the Southeastern United States. It was through this that he made a valuable connection in the acquaintance of a world-famous DJ couple, Faust & Shortee. Faust & Shortee in turn contacted a close friend of theirs, DJ KRI from Asheville, North Carolina, who sent Pre-Psyonic Sean an email about a small party in the woods of Asheville. So they packed up the vending gear and headed for the woods, where they discovered a new style of music, Goa/PsyTrance. Carrying deep and heavy sixteenth-note basslines, mesmerizing synth leads and hard, pulse-pounding kick drums, Goa blew Sean away like no other music had.

Within two years, Sean had amassed a huge variety of Goa and PsyTrance. One magical night, he was asked to play some of his music at a local club. With his very first mix, Sean realized his calling: mixing PsyTrance tracks produced by others in new and amazing ways. That night Sean was asked to join Lava Productions of Knoxville, Tennessee. He adopted the moniker Psyonic and played his first gig as opening act for none other than George Acosta in November 2001. Since then, Psyonic has played alongside such names as DJ Dan and Keoki.

Asked to join the label that had turned him on to the music he was now obsessed with, T.O.U.C.H. Samadhi, Psyonic was inspired to move from his long-time residence in Knoxville to Asheville, North Carolina in 2002. Psyonic thought his career had surely peaked when he was invited to sign with Primal Vortex Records, originally located in California, but was soon proved wrong when he was also asked to join longtime friend Jen Solos crew, Solo Dojo, of Raleigh, North Carolina in 2003. Even more impressive, Psyonic took over the business direction of Primal Vortex Records, now located in Asheville, North Carolina, in order to better serve the needs of budding artists like himself.

Eventually, Psyonic returned to his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, where he lives and works in 2009. He still travels to bookings, so look for Psyonic to rock a party near you!
