Although Jen does not deejay, she has been working with and for electronic artists and deejays since finding the dance music scene in 1995.
Originally a death and thrash metal fan, Jen took that love of hard beats and discovered an affinity for dance music, especially hard trance and techno. Solo Productions was founded in July of 1995 (primarily as a mobile vending booth and designer), and produced her first event New Year's Eve that same year. In 1997 Jen saw the need to expand her business by working more closely with artists, and signed James Fusion of (then) Elm City Wax, now of Energee Allstars and Milk Recordings to the Solo Dojo, the term Jen coined to refer to her expanding group of artists and employees. Then came Snack, Tha Ill Crackah, Joe Sweeney, Flooressence and Frequinci, Hyst, live p.a. act Freeside, Pacific, Guile, Topher, Anodyne, Cell and finally, Psyonic. Jen Solo worked at over 500 events throughout the Southeast, the Northeast and the Northwestern United States, and produced or co-produced 8 events of her own, budgeted between $1,000 and $13,000 with independently-raised funding and proceeds from Solo Vending. The list of production companies she worked with could last for pages: Pleazure of Atlanta, GA, PhunkOdelic of Charlotte, NC, Zen Festival U.S., 611 Records and Local 13 of Philadelphia, PA, Ultraworld of Washington, D.C. to name but a few. After 7 years of intense activity, certainly a veteran of the dance music scene, Jen sold the vending portion of the business in 2002, dispersed the DJs to other management and their own projects, and relocated to London, England to enjoy just over five years in the dance music scene there as just another clubkid. Late in 2007, Jen Solo returned to the United States, this time to the San Francisco Bay Area, and is now active in an ecstatic dance community that she loves. "I needed to decrease the financial and increase the spiritual to re-discover the wonder and joy I had when I first found the dance music community on the East Coast." Jen invites you to contact her via this website if you're a friend, business associate or supporter of her endeavors past and present.
